I mentioned from my previous post that my Pedia recommended us to use Nan HW1 as formula milk. Since I wasn't able to breastfeed we ended up using formula milk everyday. We only used Nan for less than 2 months. We switched to Enfamil A+ 1 because of some reason. Pero kami lang mag-asawa nagdecide to switch our baby's milk without our Pedia's consultation. However, we also brought it up, he agreed naman without hesitation. He said, it's up to us kung magswitch kami ng milk.
It happen one night when my baby didn't poop the whole day. He cried a lot and we don't know what to do. There are times he looks red and making sound of urghhhh means he's going to let go of something but when we check there's none. I listed our observation of the two formula milk.
Nestle NAN HW1
Advantage:
- It has DNA and ARA that both stimulate development for the brain
- Container is much better because it has an allowance where you can slip the scooped milk powder to get a better amount of it
- Cheaper or much affordable
- Base on review, this milk is for anti-allergies.
- Stocks are available in any grocery or Mercury drug store
Disadvantage:
- My baby had constipation
- Having a hard time pooping. My baby was always making sound and getting red when letting go of his poop.
- Green stool (I researched about this and it's perfectly normal for formula feeding infants to have green stool)
- Leftover milk is smelly
Mead Johnson Enfamil A+ 1
Advantage:
- Highest DHA for brain development
- Yellow stool (I believe yellow stool is healthier than green stool. This is my opinion only)
- My baby is not having a hard time letting go of his poop. He even didn't encounter constipation with this milk
- My baby gained a lot and he loves this milk.
- Leftover milk in the bottle are not that smelly
Disadvantage:
- Much expensive and powder milk in boxes are hard to find
- I don't like the container
- Don't have ARA
- There are bubbles when you shake the milk to mix with water
At first my baby didn't like Enfamil but when we see the result of his stool we continue using it. Until now we are still using this milk and we didn't have any problem with it. Hope you find something helpful with this review.

ReplyDeleteSince Day 1 we used Enfamil for lo. He gained weight mabilis and he likes it. Mixed feeding kami and walang problem when we switch from breast to bottle :) He poops everyday din.
ReplyDeleteWe had the exact opposite of your experience mommy... My lo were taking enfamil a+ since birth, he's on mix feeding BTW. After a month he became irritable and constipated.. He cries a lot, turns red while making an effort to excrete. One time, he pooped a paste-like and grayish with yellow stool.. That's the time.we decided to switch to Nan optipro hw, his poop turned yellow again and the consistency is just right, neither watery or clay-like. The only thing I don't like about Nan is that my lo has a very smelly poop even his fart smells like of an adult fart but nonetheless I'm glad he's not suffering from constipation. Cheers to our lo's!

Im having the same problem with my baby... dati shes taking nan optipro one kaso kinakabag sya.. the pedia recommended to switch to nan hw1 constipated naman ngayon. Tapos shes really screaming. When we check the diaper wlang stool.. hay what to do??

ReplyDeleteYou can try mixed-feeding, observe your baby's weight and response and see if there is a drastic change. And if the situation did not get any better, you must consult your doctor. I'm based in singapore by the way and I tried Dumex for my baby. Hope all is well with your baby too.
ReplyDeleteIm using Nan OptiproHW 2 for myson.he increased his intake of milk so imalmist satisfied.only we noticed na yung poop nya is watery na dark gray sometimes green but nonetheless wala namangibngnegatove reaction for my baby.what do you think mommies? Is it normal? Smellypoops and fart too.

DeleteDapat merong transition. For example, sa isang araw nakaka 8 bottles si baby. Ang gagawin mo sa 1st day ng pagpapalit pwedeng 3bottles ung new milk tapos 5bottles naman sa milk na ginagamit then sa susunod 4bottles na ung new then so on... Hanggang sa mapalitan na ung old milk

ReplyDeleteGreen poop in kids can be alarming, but it usually not a cause for concern. Otherwise, it may be linked to diarrhea or bacterial infections. I suggest pacheck niyo na po sa Pedia.

DeleteGood day.. my 2years old is using similac gain plus 3 ang problem sobrang tigas ng poop nya lagi at sumisigaw kada mag poo sya at onaabot ng 3days bago mag poo..so i research and i switch to nan optipro hw... for 2days of using... my baby poops 3times a day and watery pa..so nkaka alarm,is this normal.

DeleteHi po. My baby is taking NAN Optipro HW one formula and her poop turns dark green but not watery. She also make sound like she is constipated but she is not. she also farts a lot like shes a big guy. both fart and poops are also very smelly. should I be worried?
ReplyDeleteI am away from my daughter and my mother is the one taking care of her. She said that my baby is fine but still I want to be sure.
Base on the information you gave to me, she looks fine. My baby does that too when pooping. He makes sound and his poops are smelly because of the powder milk but that's fine. If you're baby is not having a hard time pooping and does it regularly I think she's doing well. But for your peace of mind, you may check it with your pedia.

Okay ang naging result sa Nan HW 3, hiyang na hiyang ni baby ko.Pero ngayong malapit na siyang mag 3 yrs old, balak ko sana siyang i-shift sa enfagrow a+ kasi nakalata lamang ang available for Nan Hw four, mas magastos kasi yun. Pero hindi ko pa kasi kinunsolta pedia nya po
ReplyDeleteMy baby is using NAN HW since birth. She's perfectly fine with it. Grey/dark gree poop and smelly fart are normal for NAN HW users☺️

DeleteMy baby is using enfamil a+ zince day q. Una walang problema but then after a week (she's 3weeks btw) ang dami nyang sinusuka.. Nung una lunhad lungad lang.. I'm trying bf din but i hVe low molk supply.. Di sya mabusog. We decided to switch to nan optipro hw.. My step b dapat sundin sa pagpapalit or direct po na yun na ang ipadede.

DeleteYes, we tried Nan Optipro, constipated si baby namin. Stool was so hard and pebble type. Pedia recomended NAN sensitive, naging ok naman yung poop nya. My baby is now turning 2 mons old, and im planning on switching to Enfamil, lately kasi parang ayaw na ni baby sa formula milk and pansin ko smelly and leftover ng milk. Mixed feed si baby,breastfeed din kasi sya. Im working thats why mixed feed si baby. I want to try enfamil baka magustuhan ni baby. Na nabasa ko s reviews, mas malapit sa breatmilk ang lasa ng enfamil😄
ReplyDeleteHi mommies. My baby is using Similac two 6-12mos. But yung milk nya before was bonna. Just wanna ask, normal lang po ba pag sinusuka nya minsan yung milk nya? Then yung poop nya is dark green tapos hirap syang mag poop. Madala 3 araw syang di nag popoop. Thanks!

Dahil laging hirap mag burp si baby sa s26, pinag Nan optipro Hw kami ng pedia at meron din daw kasi skin asthma si baby.
ReplyDeleteHi...my baby is now 10months old since pinanganak ko sya NAN HW na yung gamit nya dahil nung una ang binigay ng pedia is enfamil a+ then nagla rashes buong katawan nya before kami lumabas ng hospital. Now may bago kaming pedia sabi nya try namin ang s26 kasi parang mababa ang timbang ni baby ko na 7.7kg para sa 10months..And ngaun nagtatae si baby di ko alam kung dahil 4 na ngipin ang sabay sabay na lalabas sa kanya.

DeleteHello mommies hows your baby sa nan sensitive? Mix feeding kasi kame, naka enfamil kame for a month okay naman siya ang problem ko tagal niya magpoop minsan na abot kame ng 5days sa enfamil. Our pedia advice to change milk to isomil ganun pa din minsan 6th days before magpoop. Now im planning to switch sa nan sensitive madami kasi choices binigay ung pedia niya. (S26 comfirt, enfamil gentlease, similac tummicareat nan sensitive) di pa ako makadecide kaya nagbabasa ako review. Im torn between gentlease and nam sensitive. Baby has mild atopic deematitis. Btw 2months old na si baby.
ReplyDeleteS26 gold ang gatas ng baby ko however nahirapan sya mag poop kaya nag change kami agad ng formula. Enfamil na sya until now. 10 months na ang baby ko, 11kg and 74cm. Sobrang ok ang Enfamil sa baby ko, di sya kinakabag, everyday ang poop nya at di sya nahihirapan mag poop. Sobrang bibo din pala ng baby ko marunong na sya maglakad at 9 months. First baby ko pala toh kaya sobrang happy ako at Enfamil ang formula ng baby ko. Btw may ARA ang Enfamil, tinignan ko yung box. Ang Enfamil ang may pinaka mataas na ARA & DHA. Pero ang pinaka mahalaga sa lahat di sakitin ang baby ko sa gatas na ito.

Then nung ng9 monts n sya pinastop q n sya mgBF kasi kunti n lng ung milk n nkukuha nya sken.
